What is House of Teens
House of Teens is a place where teenagers, 6th to 12th grade from the schools of the West Side area, can find a safe, loving, family atmosphere to nurture their passions and develop their life skills.
Program runs Monday through Thursday from 4:00-6:00pm. During the first hour, students receive homework help from the staff and volunteers. If the student does not have homework, they participate in educational activities during this time. The second hour, we do a special project for each day in the areas of art/music, character development, cooking, or recreation.
House of Teen Goals
Personal Development: To nurture the God given interests and passions of our youth and be an outlet for these through activities, speakers, and field trips designed in response to their strongest interests and motivation. Our program also focuses on developing communication skills, and healthy lifestyle choices.
Community Service: To help the youth develop a sense of ownership of youth’s neighborhood, environment, and the world.
Character Development: Hope that youth will gain a sense of respect of self, others, and property. We also work to instill qualities of leadership and inclusivity.
Post High School Graduate Preparation: House of Teens prepares the participants to take the next step of their post-graduate journey by offering assistance in the forms of homework/tutoring/ computer lab, tools for career decisions, college or technical school selection and support in securing financial aid through our partnership with the Vista Program.
